When It’s Free

November 25th, 2007

Things that don't seem to matter when it's free.

  • Usually getting shoehorned into a middle seat.
  • People who use your seatback as a handle to get up.
  • Anxious people who pile into the walkways as soon as you get to the gate.
  • The kid behind you kicking your seat.

The list of course goes on, and everyone has their stories and complaints about the airlines. Let's face it, it's an easy target. One thing I have noticed is that negativity breeds negativity. The guy sitting next to me on my last flight was mumbling about all the kids (there were a bunch of babies, and little kids on the flight), and the noise they were making. Until he said that I didn't even notice...then of course you can't unnotice it. Granted as soon as we hit 10k feet I put on the noise canceling headphones and slide away into relaxing bliss.

On a side note, Rebekah has a shirt that says "Marry Me Fly Free", and it's true.

It's good to fly free.

You could have *paid* for all those annoyances :) It’s still free.

I was going to exclaim about Rebekah’s sense of humor but then I realized that commenting on her sense of humor would be like commenting on Sandi’s patience - given their choice in spouses, these personality traits are, it seems, inevitable.
