VOCE Wireless

December 12th, 2006

So today I get a brochure in the mail for a VOCE Wireless “World’s First Premium Wireless Service”. Everything seems pretty normal, 24/7 personal assistants, immediate access to a service rep., handset upgrades every year, and so on. Then you get to the phones, the special limited edition D&G Edition RAZR, Nokia 8801, and a limited edition PEBL. Then I got to the last page. $500 one-time membership fee, and only $200 a month flat-rate. Apparently this is utlra high end.

Not sure why I got this in the mail. Apparently it’s my subscription to the Robb Report, or my recent surpassing of Warren Buffet’s portfolio amount. Oh, and I predict this will fail miserably.

Apparently they’ve taken notice of your uber commercial blogging - I’m referring here to the juicers, iPods, tommy guns, etc - and decided you’re a worthy consumer of their targeted marketing.

Sadly, no matter how sweet that RAZR or PEBL ‘distinctive handset’ looks, you’re still just left with a flaky motorola phone.

I could not agree more! I came across your site doing a search of VOCE, and laugh at the fact that people actually think that the world needs yet another ‘niche’ wireless commpany. I live by my phone for work, and have a plan with T Mobile that is 130.00/month and 5000 anytime mins with evenings and weekends unlimited. Oh ya, I also get fantastic customer service, the store reps are great, and I dont have to drive to Beverly Hills or deal with the ‘people’ of Newport. Eric, you could not be more correct. Miserable failure in site! But hey… then they have another nice tax writeoff for 2007!

I just switched to VOCE. There is not really a membership fee. You have to buy a cell phone for either 250, 500 or 750…ur choice and it is a 1 time deal. The charge is $200 flat per month for unlimited voice and data and every thing you can think on on a cell phone. I used to pay 130 per month for tmobile 5000 min plan and always go over because i run by business over my phone. I use about 8000 mins. Add a 29.99 internet charge and you are almost at 160+taxes.
I even switched to Helio unlimited for a while but problems…..cannot sync with outlook, cannot download all the email and attachments. If you delete an email it will download again and you have to manually download all the email when ever you want to read even a single message. Biggest problem of all you cannot sync your contacts and calendar with your phone and computer. So over all i am paying may be an extra 20$ for the premium benefits. I think it is worth.

Just FYI, Voce actually is offering a plan for $118, and for that you get 2000 anytime minutes, unlimited text messaging, 5MB for multimedia messaging, unlimited 411 directory assistance phone calls, unlimited calls to the 24/7, 365 days a year personal assistant, and best of all there is no contract so anytime you want to stop using their service you can with no cancellation fee. There is no activation fee and the personal assistant really works, try them, and they help you with any and everything, I couldn’t believe it until I tried it myself. It comes off like its for the high end, but its for everybody.

Well seems like voce is gone, walk up to no dialtone today, no one answers the phone on their local offices and SIM fails to register to the service. Great!, no warnings or nothing. Big issue for their customers, this is unreal.

Same story here. Woke up this morning and found i can kiss my monthly rate of two hundred dollars and my five hundred dollar deposit goodbye . Absolutely no response from Voce call center nor corporate. Spoke with neiman marcus this morning . This is department store in arizona that Voce sold their phones out of, and they told me they knew nothing and were not warned at all. They also told me the only information they had from Voce was that Tmobile and At&T had bought the services from them and that they would be able to keep our numbers and just start up service with them. Unfortunately neither Tmobile nor At&T had been informed of this . Not one of the representatives for either company even knew who Voce was.

Same here, right in the middle of a busy day in meetings, my phone wont register to the network, I cant access stored voicemails and the nobody at any of the Voce numbers, call center, retail stores or customer service answer the phones. Bad move buddies… I will be contacting my credit card company and looking into other actions if needed. This was a good idea (business idea), premium wireless, however their business model, including how to bring the product to market and their (everchanging) pricing models seemed to lack basic math skills. You cant have people sitting in Beverly Hills answering phones and only bill $200 per month. Also, one of the ‘kiss of death’ moves was when they got rid of the $200/month plan and went with $118 for 2k minutes - they immediately turned themselves into a commodity, now having to compete with the big boys! God… if anyone else wants to start a wireless company (MVNO) or other, contact me, I’ll help you with the business plan. Good luck all my fellow former Voce subscribers! My best, Jason (jason@kukrejainc.com)

Suggestion for VOCE subscribers… contact the FCC and file your complaints. I’m working on trying to figure out how I’m going to keep my number. AT&T says that in order to “port the number over” it has to be active… go figure.
