Goals: La Jolla Half Marathon

April 18th, 2007

Enough of this girly engagement stuff on the front page, this is a running blog after all :)

Awhile ago I decided to run the La Jolla Half Marathon, which I decided was Nearly Impossible (also the title of aforelinked post). Now, just a few days before the event I have decided that it is going to be tough, but I feel I'm going to finish, and with a time I am happy with.

-- Target pace for each split (mile) of under 10 minutes.
-- Negative overall split, meaning I run the second half faster.
-- When I cross the finish line I feel good and...
-- Am able to quick change, hop in the car and make it to where I need to be at 10:30, meaning I really need to hit the first goal.

Here's to hoping I get up when I need to, and it's not too warm come Sunday morning!

    Eric,
So you’ll be the guy in meeting slurping gel packs, wearing a camelback. Try to be discreet.
I’m not sure if what follows would qualify as a warning or inspiration, but it has to be shared:

I’d sure love to be in meeting with you that morning. No doubt you’ll have a great bit of wisdom to share with us after your 2 hour run with nothing else to think about!

Ha, or random rap songs from listening to music for two hours…

The best part is, I don’t think I’m going to have time to shower…so it’s towel off and hit up the cologne shower, so I’ll probably be a bit casual :).

Oh wow. You’re going to be stinky. Are you SURE you don’t have time to shower? :-)
Good luck. Run fast. Hope you get in the “zone”.
And Ron…that link is awesome. That could very well be me and Sorenson when we run on the 29th. We. Will. Finish. That’s about all.

You have the “Old & New” collection on your iPod?

    Eric,
on behalf of our little meeting, maybe you could find a sprinkler to run through just after you’ve crossed the finish line and before you towel off?
And just to save you time, the reference you’ll be looking for in the car is 2 Tim 4:7.
