Check the Facts
September 15th, 2008I recently blogged about "a modest proposal", in which the linked article asks for more fact checking in the news. That may be a long time coming, but in the meantime here are some good resources.
There are quite a few non-partisan (which hopefully means unbiased) sites out there that do this.
- FactCheck.org (including their wire).
- PolitiFact.com, which offers a nice rundown of recent attacks from both sides
- Washington Posts' Fact Checker
There are also some news sites that attempt to bring unbiased coverage also
- RealClearPolitics.com, an independent site focused on political news
- OpenSecrets.org, a cool site for seeing who's funding/taking what money
It'll be over in a few short months, but hopefully everyone can see through the spin (from either side). A post on Twitter sums up what all of us should know already.
